From the time you board FRIENDLY, you'll see from the smile on his face that Captain Bruce Bishop is doing something
he truly loves. That enthusiasm will accompany you as you set sail toward the islands off the shoreline of Fish
Creek. Safety is always the first priority aboard the vessel, and the Captain's experience will assure you of that.
Bruce has been sailing for more than 30 years and has been a licensed United States Coast
Guard Captain for 20 years. In addition to sailing the waters of Door County for a lifetime, he has
logged thousands of sea miles on such bodies of water as the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, all the Great Lakes,
the Intercoastal Waterway, the Mississippi River, the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Carribbean Sea. No need to worry
about pirates — Bruce is an accomplished Martial Arts instructor in several different styles, as well. Bruce has
been a teacher, tug boat captain, sailing instructor, a Merchant Mariner on Great Lakes freighters and the First
Officer on several private mega-yachts. He is also an American Sailing Association Instructor certified in the
following categories:
- Basic Keelboat
- Basic Coastal Cruising
- Coastal Navigation
- Bareboat Charter
After all this, he finds the most joy in introducing people to a relaxing and informative sail aboard his schooner,
FRIENDLY.
The Schooner FRIENDLY sails three times daily from Fish Creek at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m.
and at sunset. Trips are approximately 2 hours long. For information about rates, go here.
